The City of North Charleston, North Charleston Police Department, North Charleston Fire Department, Kristine M Schaffer Marketing LLC, and East Bay Deli are collaborating to bring the community together to honor brain cancer families.
May is brain cancer awareness month and May 17th is Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) Brain Cancer Awareness Day. The public is invited to attend a celebration to honor all brain cancer survivors and share ways to become involved in the community to support this cause. The event will be held at East Bay Deli, located at 9135 University Blvd in North Charleston, this Wednesday, May 17th from 3 pm to 4 pm. The Mayor of North Charleston, R. Keith Summey, will have a Proclamation from the City of North Charleston, and the North Charleston Police Department will be coming with the Police Car Of Hope.
Kristine Schaffer, an advocate for childhood cancer, will share her knowledge received from the Alliance for Childhood Cancer. This organization was established in 2001 to advocate on behalf of the youngest cancer patients. The Alliance works collaboratively to advance research and policies to prevent cancer, improve public education, and the diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and survivorship of children and adolescents with cancer.
South Carolina Cancer Alliance's mission is to reduce the impact of all South Carolinians. We will continue to collaborate with the South Carolina Department Of Health And Environmental Control, Center For Disease Control, many hospitals, physicians, charitable organizations, and our South Carolina legislators to ensure that we can work together for all ages to cure more cancer patients.
