Battery Set to Host Military Appreciation Night on May 13th

By: Battery Media

The Charleston Battery announced Sunday the return of Military Appreciation Night at Patriots Point, set for the May 13th match against San Antonio FC, with presenting partner Hendrick Volvo Cars of Charleston.

The fan-favorite night returns this year after the overwhelming success of the previous seasons’ matches welcoming and celebrating the Charleston community’s military members and their families.

Saturday evening will feature a variety of fundraising and donation initiatives. Fans will have the ability to bid on player-worn warm-up jerseys that will later be autographed. Also up for auction will be a pair of Air Jordan shoes worn by Head Coach Ben Pirmann during the game and then autographed.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit Palmetto Military Support Group (PMSG). PMSG works to bridge the gap between the greater Charleston community and military members through volunteering, fundraising, engagement and education.

“Hendrick Volvo Cars of Charleston has been a great partner over the last year and a half, they have such a great vision for supporting the community,” said Lee Cohen, club president. “We are excited to partner with them again on our Military Appreciation Night as they are huge advocates of both the active and veteran military service men and women. We look forward to having a special night at Patriots Point on May 13 to honor all members of the military community.”

Additionally, active duty, reserve and retired military members and DoD professionals are eligible to receive complimentary tickets to the match thanks to the generous donation from our sponsors and supporters. Those tickets are available through

Ticket donations for military service members and veterans are welcome. The Battery will match all ticket donations and will recognize donor organizations at the match on May 13. Contact to donate.

“We are thrilled to be supporting our veterans and members of our armed forces here during this very special evening,” said Cali Young, Hendrick Volvo Cars of Charleston marketing and event specialist. “We are honored to partner with our friends from the Charleston Battery and Volvo North America, and grateful to participate. Hendrick has many veterans across our workforce and industry, and supporting them is exactly what we should do in return for everything they have sacrificed for us.”

Also occurring ahead of the match will be a Color Guard and flag presentation on the field. We are currently taking volunteers who would like to participate in the pregame flag ceremony at midfield via this form. Representatives from the branches of the military will additionally have tables set up in the pavilion in the stadium.

Tickets for the Military Appreciation Night are available now via, the Battery’s exclusive digital ticketing provider.
