At Colleton Medical Center, we're committed every day to creating healthier tomorrows, and when we see a need in our community, we step forward. That's why on Saturday, October 29th, we're partnering with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office and Walterboro Police Department to host an anonymous, rain-or-shine, drive-thru Crush the Crisis prescription drug take back event in the hospital's main parking lot located at 501 Robertson Blvd.
According to the 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.3 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 6.2 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives and 5.1 million people misused prescription stimulants in 2020.
Colleton Medical Center's Crush the Crisis event will align with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
“Colleton Medical Center is committed to doing our part to eradicate opioid misuse and addiction,” said Jimmy Hiott, Colleton Medical Center CEO. “We encourage our community to safely and anonymously drop off unused and expired medication for proper disposal at our collection site on Saturday, October 29.”
Colleton Medical Center aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means to dispose of prescription drugs while educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. The focus of the event is to collect any unused prescription tablets, capsules, and patches.
We will not be able to accept needles, syringes, lancets, or liquids.
