In response to reports that State Representative Chris Murphy (R-Dorchester) has been seeking treatment for substance abuse, his Democratic opponent, Sydney Clinton (right), has released the following statement:
“Obviously, my thoughts are with Representative Murphy and his family. I certainly hope he has a full and lasting recover. Substance abuse is a serious health matter, and I am glad he is seeking the assistance he needs.
However, I do not believe his health concerns are a relevant issue in this campaign. Voters on the campaign trail tell me they are more concerned about his support for a radical, out-of-touch agenda, which includes a no-exception abortion ban bill that takes away freedoms from the individual and transfers it to politicians like himself. Voters are more concerned about his long-term, abysmal attendance record in office and his support for political gerrymandering efforts which tear apart communities and further polarize and divide voters, all with the singular goal of ensuring incumbents like him stay in office.”
