Earlier today, CARTA board members and Bosch representatives gathered to unveil a newly completed bus shelter located near Bosch's Charleston plant on Dorchester Road (right).
The new shelter is the result of a longstanding partnership between the organizations, with the purpose of increasing the safety and accessibility of CARTA's bus service for Bosch employees and nearby residents.
“At CARTA, we're committed to providing public transit that is safe and convenient, which is why we're so grateful to our partners at Bosch for helping to make this new shelter a reality,” said Mike Seekings, Chairman of CARTA's Board of Directors. “As one of the region's top employers, Bosch's investment in our local transit system is not just an impressive vote of confidence, but a clear signal that public transportation is here to stay.”
The shelter, which features a bench, bike rails and a newly paved path to the Bosch plant, was jointly funded by CARTA and Bosch.
“Bosch has been a proud member of the Charleston community for nearly half a century, so we understand the tremendous value that CARTA brings to the tri-county region,” said Annekathrin Müeller, Bosch Charleston Plant Vice President. “We're proud to contribute to that positive impact with the completion of this new bus shelter, a project that was initiated by our own empowered Bosch Charleston Plant associates. This shelter is already benefiting our Bosch associates and countless members of the community, and we’d like to thank everyone at CARTA and BCDCOG that helped make it possible.”
