Thankfully the entertainment community is beginning to make a comeback. Movie theaters are opening. More clubs and night spots are offering live music. Playhouses are up and running. It’s time to start getting back out there and enjoy the weekend and all the nightlife the Holy City has to offer.

Fans of The Twilight Saga, Teen Wolf, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The Gilmore Girls, Friday Night Lights, Pretty Little Liars, The O.C. and Outer Banks than this is your weekend. Epic Cons is bringing the Ep-Ix & Chill Convention complete with tons of celebrities to the Omar Shrine Temple in Mount Pleasant Fri-Sun. Kick off the weekend at Homegrown Party at the Point. This family-friendly event is hosted on the beachfront of and features live music and plenty of food and drink options. The series will run on Fridays from August 5th through September 9th. Each event is scheduled for 5 pm to 9 pm and admission is $10 per person (kids 12 & under are free). The town of Mount Pleasant and Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park 99 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd host Waterfront Music & Movies Friday nights in August. Mount Pleasant residents and visitors bring blankets and chairs, sit back to enjoy an incredible sunset while listening to local musicians, and then watch an outdoor movie with the beautiful Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor for a backdrop. Pure Theatre at 134 Cannon Street present The Hidden Life by Randy Neale. Weekend performances run Aug 18th – Sept 10th. Her name is Adrienne (Audrey) Laframboise Filion Lavoie. She has lived a life. Four actors share the remarkable and quiet brilliance of one woman’s life from her impoverished birth on a dirt farm in Canada, through her life as a young widow and mother in Detroit during the Depression, to the satisfaction of her matriarchy of a huge extended family. A Hidden Life, lyrically written and directed by PURE Core Ensemble member Randy Neale (Last Rites), is a joyful and celebratory exploration of the triumphs and trials that hold equal sway in a simple life well lived. Footlight Players at 20 Queen Street in their 91st season continue their run with the sexually charged ‘The Full Monty’. While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out,” a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash. Weekend performances run thru Sunday August 28th. Holy City Brewing 1021 Aragon Ave North Charleston host live music on the weekend 5-8pm. Saturday night it’s Steven Jenkins performing.  Join in the fun.

Art lovers take note. Charleston, prepare yourself for Beyond van Gogh the most immersive experience now taking place at the Charleston Area Convention Center 5000 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston. Occupying over 30,000 square feet, Beyond Van Gogh is the largest immersive experience in the country, offering guests ample room to safely enjoy the exhibit. Friday evening 6-9pm head to the Village Green at Freshfields Village for a complimentary, outdoor concert featuring Soul Fish. Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets as the center welcomes back one of its favorite events. Music on the Green returns this summer every Friday through September 2.

The Holy City Farmers Market will return to Firefly Distillery in North Charleston on the last Saturday of every month through November! Shop local at the distillery from 12-4pm with 20+ vendors. Enjoy live music from the front porch and visit the History Room for a glimpse at the distillation and bottling process. There is a food truck scheduled every weekend with full-bar service available on the back porch. Music kicks off at 1pm. Sundays from 1pm-2pm at the Revelry Brewing Co. 10 Conroy Street enjoy a 1-hour tour guided by a knowledgeable Revelry staff member at two locations. Boone Hall Plantation is open with adjusted days and hours of operation. Currently Boone Hall Plantation is open Monday through Saturday – 9am-5pm and on Sunday – 12pm-5pm. One price includes all tours. Admission is $26 for ages 13-64. Seniors-AAA-Military tickets are $23, and Children 6-12 are $12. Enjoy Cars & Coffee every third Saturday 9-11am at Freshfields Village. Arrive in your favorite ride or stop by the Village Green to browse unique, antique and other cool cars at our monthly Cars & Coffee! Coffee and breakfast will be available for purchase at Java Java. Every Tuesday in May enjoy Shag Night on the Dock. Join Freshfields Village and Doin’ the Charleston for our Spring Shag Night each Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This Friday night Soul Fish perform on the lawn during the Music on the Green Concert Series beginning at 6pm.

The Charleston Farmers Market, located in Marion Square, will begin the 2022 market season Saturday March 5th. The market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through November 26.  Inclement weather effects the event and vendor participation from time to time.

The Charleston City Night Market (Market Streets) is open this weekend. The marketplace is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from March – December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 – 10:30 pm and is a free event that is open to the public.

The Sea Island Farmers Market takes place every Saturday 9:30-1:30pm at 2024 Academy Rd. on Johns Island. Dozens of local vendors offering up produce, baked goods, arts & crafts, and more. For more visit their site

The Hanahan Farmers and Vendors Market Public hosted by Hanahan Recreation Department take place Friday 5-8pm at 1255 Yeamans Hall Rd, Hanahan. Food Trucks, Live Music and amazing vendors! Bring the entire family.

If you just want to get out of the house, there are of course city parks open as well as most area golf courses. Sunny days are welcome for walking the beach, bicycling, jogging, maybe tossing the frisbee, or getting in a round of golf. Check with golf courses for certain restrictions. Plus, Park Circle in North Charleston offers a nice disc golf course.

Middleton Place, the ancestral home of two Founding Fathers and site of America’s oldest landscaped gardens, has reopened to the public. Ticket pricing has been revised, as well. Lowcountry Tri-County residents pay $26 while non-locals pay $29 per adult. However, if you purchase online, tickets are $20, a 30% discount that also allows for nearly contactless admission. The Bojangles Restaurant 431 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek will host Goose Creek Cars this Saturday from 8-10am. The group meets twice a month. All types of vehicles are welcome.

Black Fedora Mystery Theater on the market (164 Church St.) is open. Get ready to laugh and have some real fun again. The re-opening day is Thursday May 27th.
