Homestand Preview: RiverDogs Return to Charleston For 12 Straight Home Games
The RiverDogs are playing great baseball and locked in a battle for the first half championship in the Carolina League’s South Division. The team will return to The Joe to finish out the month of May with 12 straight home games from May 17th to 29th. The first six games of that stretch include our first Military Appreciation night of the season, HALO Opera Night, and a chance to meet Smalls and Repeat from the classic baseball movie we all know and love.
Below is a list of all of the fun the RiverDogs have planned for next Tuesday-Sunday with the Augusta GreenJackets in town for the first of back-to-back weeks at home:
Tuesday, May 17, 7:05 p.m.: You’re Killing Me, Smalls! Night/Dog Day presented by Twisted Tea: If you haven’t made it to a game yet this season, we have one thing to say. You’re killing us, Smalls! We’ll open the homestand with a visit from Smalls and Repeat from the classic baseball movie. Both will be available to take pictures and sign autographs before the game. Also, we hope to see you and your dog at the game! The RiverDogs invite you to bring your pup to The Joe for each Tuesday home game this season. This week we will highlight Dachshunds! In addition, enjoy $2 hot dogs and beer as Twisted Tea adds a new twist to Tuesdays this season with goofy on-field games and fan-oriented fun throughout the game. Tuesday games are presented by 96.9 The Wolf.
Wednesday, May 18, 7:05 p.m.: Boeing Military Appreciation Night/Wicked Wednesday presented by Wicked Weed: This is the first of three gigantic tributes to military members that we will host this season. Members of the military and their families will receive a free ticket to the game by calling the RiverDogs box office. The team will also induct Bill Walsh, Lt. Colonel (Ret) U.S. Air Force, and Secretary William F. Grimsley to the Hall of Honor prior to the game. The Joint Base Charleston Honor Guard will present the colors and there will be a live performance of God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch. Make sure to keep an eye out every Wednesday for a new wicked ticket deal. This week, Field View seats are just $9 with the code: WD0518.
Thursday, May 19, 7:05 p.m.: Thirsty Thursday™ presented by Budweiser: There is a reason that Thursday nights at The Joe provide one of the best atmospheres in Minor League Baseball. As always, $1 beers are available throughout the ballpark all night long. A lucky fan will leave with High Tide Festival VIP tickets valued at $400. This Thursday will also see the introduction of the “Dog Breeze”, a refreshing cocktail featuring BlueRazz BeatBox and Lime Seltzer, available in a collectible light-up souvenir cup for one night only! Enjoy live music in the Ashley View Pub courtesy of DJ DollaMenu or feel free to play a game of cornhole on the concourse. Bottoms up! Thursdays are presented by 95sx.
Friday, May 20, 7:05 p.m.: HALO Opera Night/Friday Fireworks presented by REV Federal Credit Union/Boeing Red Shirt Friday: We had so much fun with the Holy City Arts and Lyric Opera last season, that we couldn’t wait to have them back. The National Anthem and seventh inning stretch will be performed by members of the opera. We’ll also give fans a chance to battle members of the opera in singing competitions and test the crowd’s knowledge of opera with prizes from HALO. The RiverDogs will shine a spotlight on active duty and retired military members and their families, while the team wears their new red alternate jerseys on the field. The red jerseys will be auctioned to fans at the end of the season. Following every Friday night contest make sure to stick around for the best fireworks show in the Lowcountry! Enjoy this week’s fireworks along with an opera mix. Fridays are presented by 103.5 WEZL and Live 5 News.
Saturday, May 21, 6:05 p.m.: Pals 1922 Championship Anniversary/Saturdays Live at The Joe presented by Breeze Airways/Post-Game Light Show: We all know the RiverDogs brought home the title last season…who could forget! Did you know that the last time that feat was accomplished in the Holy City was way back in 1922? We’ll celebrate the 100-year anniversary of that championship by wearing special throwback Charleston Pals jerseys that will be auctioned after the game! You never know what kind of fun is in store when you walk into the ballpark on a Saturday Live at The Joe! After the game, stick around for a light show featuring our LED ballpark lights! Saturdays are presented by 92.5 Kickin’ Country, 101.7 Chuck FM and FOX 24.
Sunday, May 22, 5:05 p.m.: Perros Santos de Charleston presented by MUSC Health/ MUSC Health Family Sunday: We’ll suit up as Los Perros Santos de Charleston for the second time this season as part of Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión initiative. Latin Grammy nominee Gabriela Soto will be at the game to sing the National Anthem. The game will also feature a Spanish-speaking PA announcer, a kids craft table on the concourse and balloon displays.. In addition, Latina 95.5 & DJ Esco of Mama Rumba Latin Lounge will be on the concourse prior to the game. Parking is free! Before, during and after each Sunday home game we will make it all about the kids. From the video board to between innings contests and even the opportunity to run the bases, Sundays are sure to be a memorable day for the whole family.
