Book lovers and bargain hunters are in for a real treat when the Charleston Friends of the Library (CFOL) returns to host its 40th Annual That BIG Book Sale next month. From May 20th to 22nd, the public can shop from an inventory of over 60,000 books in all categories including Children’s, Fiction, History, Cooking, Gardening, Foreign Language, Premium, and more. All items will be on sale with prices starting at just $1. Proceeds from the event, which will be held at the Omar Shrine Auditorium, support the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL).
In addition to the dates listed above, a first-hand preview sale for members of CFOL will be held on Thursday, May 19th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Checks, cash, and major credit cards are accepted. A special appearance from CCPL’s mascot Owlbert is also expected.
“We are excited to get the opportunity to celebrate our 40th Birthday this year and what better way to celebrate than at the 40th annual That BIG Book sale,” said Nulani Bennett, Charleston FOL Operations Manager. “Our volunteers have worked hard sorting, pricing, and packing thousands of gently used books to ensure we appeal to every reader.”
The Charleston Friends of the Library is a non-profit volunteer organization that raises money through book sales and other events to help fund library services, training, materials, and public programming. The CFOL collects and sorts gently used books donated by the community for resale to raise funds for CCPL.
