Patriots Point Now Offering Free Admission to Low-Income Families

Published

on

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is now a member of Museums for All and will offer free admission to participants of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Anyone who participates in SNAP will receive free admission for up to four people by presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card at the ticket window.

Museums for All is an initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) that aims to give children and families access to high quality museum experiences. The Naval & Maritime Museum is only the third museum in the Lowcountry to participate in this program.

“Every child should have the chance to come aboard our historic ships regardless of their family’s financial situation,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Dr. Rorie Cartier. “It is a joy to see children’s eyes light up as they walk onto the USS Yorktown for the very first time. They hear the stories of heroes, learn about history, and develop patriotism by walking through our halls. Making this experience more accessible will allow Patriots Point to have a lifelong positive impact on the community.”

During a visit to Patriots Point, guests can explore more than 1,000,000 square feet of exhibits and spaces. Admission includes access to the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, USS Laffey destroyer, Medal of Honor Museum, and Vietnam Experience exhibit.
