We at Holy City Sinner thank you for your patronage and hope 2021 is an awesome year for our followers. We continue to provide you current news and helpful items that keep you up on the Holy City and provide information that might be useful to our followers. 

This is a busy weekend. But please check with venues in case weather or anything else cancels any of the following. 

Thankfully the entertainment community is beginning to make a comeback. Movie theaters are opening. More clubs and night spots are offering live music. Soon the playhouses will be up and running. It’s time to start getting back out there and enjoy the weekend and all the nightlife the Holy City has to offer. We are Holy City Sinner will keep you up on as much as we can. Have fun and stay safe. Please double check with venues before venturing out, since things change so quickly.  Many clubs have mask or proof of vaccination requirements, so be aware!

You can’t stop the beat this weekend at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Yes, that’s right the PAC present ‘Hairspray’ as part of their travelling Broadway Series of live performances. HAIRSPRAY, Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy phenomenon that inspired the blockbuster film and live television event, is back on tour! Join 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960’s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world? The annual Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park runs Nov 12th thru Dec 31st. There’s so much to discover at the Holiday Festival of Lights! The Flowertown Players offer up a holiday treat beginning this weekend. Opening Black Friday ‘It’s A Wonderful Life A Live Radio Play’. Travel back in time to 1940’s radio station where the ensemble cast bring to life various characters from the iconic holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Complete with a couple of foley artists, a diligent stage manager and a cast of talented but unruly actors this clever presentation of the James Stewart classic will have you laughing and smiling with holiday cheer. It’s once again the holiday season and Mount Pleasant Towne Centre will ring in the holidays with its biggest event, Lights Up, live and in person again this season. On Friday, November 20th at 6 pm, Belk Drive will shine bright with a laser light show, plenty of activities, and the lighting of the 40-foot Christmas tree. For more visit

Sea Island Farmers Market presents their 2nd Annual Holiday Night Markets December 4th and December 18th from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. Back by popular demand! After sold out performances in 2019, Elf The Musical returns to the Historic Dock Street Theatre! Based on the beloved and hilarious 2003 Will Ferrell film, Elf The Musical tells the story of Buddy, who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Raised as an elf and unaware that he is actually a human. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his true identity. Love Beer? Here’s something fun to do this weekend. On Saturday the Charleston Brewery District will host their inaugural Santa Brewcon, a holiday celebration that benefits Toys for Tots. Rita’s Seaside Grille is kicking off the holiday season with their annual Santa Paws celebration on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. During the event, Rita’s parking lot and patio will transform into “Puppyland” to benefit Pet Helpers, a Charleston-based shelter. At the Honky Tonk Saloon on College Park Road in Ladson come out for country group Parmalee. They will be playing a special acoustic concert and you can get in FREE – simply by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is $9.25 w/o a toy.

Several city-wide holiday events taking place this weekend.

Since 1996. On Sunday more than 100 floats will march down Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. The tree lighting and fireworks display begins at approximately 5:30 pm at Moultrie Middle School, immediately followed by the parade beginning at around 5:45 pm. The parade starts at the intersection of Coleman Boulevard and Pelzer Drive, then continues past Shem Creek to conclude at the Sea Island Shopping Center around 7:15 pm.

The Charleston Annual Holiday Market in Marion Square will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the first three weekends in December (December 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th). Come and enjoy a bounty of fresh local produce and homegrown creativity with additional holiday décor and gifts being sold by a variety of local producers. The Sound of Charleston – Holiday Edition takes place at Circular Congregational Church 150 Meeting Street. Boone Hall Plantation is open with adjusted days and hours of operation. Currently Boone Hall Plantation is open Monday through Saturday – 9am-5pm and on Sunday – 12pm-5pm. One price includes all tours. Admission is $26 for ages 13-64. Seniors-AAA-Military tickets are $23 and Children 6-12 are $12. Many of Charleston’s favorite theatre groups and live comedy clubs offer live streaming of shows and plays. Please check them out for additional opportunities for events, and things to do.

Pure Theatre continue their run of ‘Little Gem’. Three generations of women. One extraordinary year. Sex, birth, death, dildos and salsa classes. The Charleston City Night Market (Market Streets) is open this weekend. The marketplace is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from March – December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 – 10:30 pm and is a free event that is open to the public.

The Hanahan Farmers and Vendors Market Public hosted by Hanahan Recreation Department take place Friday 5-8pm at 1255 Yeamans Hall Rd, Hanahan. Food Trucks, Live Music and amazing vendors! Bring the entire family.

If you just want to get out of the house there are of course city parks open as well as most area golf courses. Sunny days are welcome for walking the beach, bicycling, jogging, maybe tossing the frisbee, or getting in a round of golf. Check with golf courses for certain restrictions. Plus Park Circle in North Charleston offers a nice disc golf course.

Middleton Place, the ancestral home of two Founding Fathers and site of America’s oldest landscaped gardens, has reopened to the public. Ticket pricing has been revised, as well. Lowcountry Tri-County residents pay $26 while non-locals pay $29 per adult. However, if you purchase online, tickets are $20, a 30% discount that also allows for nearly contactless admission. The Bojangles Restaurant 431 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek will host Goose Creek Cars this Saturday from 8-10am. The group meets twice a month. All types of vehicles are welcome.

After a year long hiatus Black Fedora Mystery Theater on the market (164 Church St.) is open. Get ready to laugh and have some real fun again. The re-opening day is Thursday May 27th. Shows at Theatre 99 are improv parties where audience members laugh until it hurts. Come loaded with suggestions for the quick-witted Theatre 99 ensemble members who will take your suggestions…and rock out hilarious unscripted scenes. Guaranteed to make you laugh! $20 for 8pm show. The world-famous Windjammer on the Isle of Palms in rockin’ this weekend. Friday night is TBD. Saturday come enjoy RADIO BOMB while raising funds for the Moore family in support Charlestonian Rebecca Moore’s battle against cancer! Music cranks up at 9pm.     I will definitely be checking out ‘Taste of Folly’ this weekend! I have also been wanting to try out Braised in the South’s new location over on Johns Island.
