Charleston-based nonprofit Warrior Surf Foundation (WSF) has once again partnered with Mex 1 Coastal Cantina to launch their 2021 Share the Stoke: Win a Board, Give a Board raffle. Twice a year, WSF and Mex 1 work with a local surfboard shaper to raffle off a hand-shaped board, as well as give a custom board to one lucky Veteran graduate of WSF’s 12-week surf therapy program. This fall, the chosen Veteran will work directly with local shaper Malcolm Knight of Long Toe Surfboards, who shapes and glasses his boards locally.
Those interested in winning a beautiful tie dye 5’10” fish surfboard of their own, may purchase raffle tickets online now through December 9th at 5 pm. Raffle tickets are 10 for $10, 20 for $15, and 30 for $25. You can also sign up to score additional free tickets when you share the designated link with friends. All money raised will go directly towards WSF’s surf therapy, yoga and wellness programs to help our nation’s Veterans struggling with PTSD, transitional issues, and other mental health challenges.
A portion of the proceeds will help send eight deserving Veteran members of the WSF program, as well as WSF crew to Thunderbomb Surf Camp in Nicaragua next February. During this week-long intensive retreat, Veterans will focus on healing through psycho-education, positive psychology, and resiliency. To donate directly to WSF and Mex 1’s Thunderbomb Surf Camp, with options to donate a specific experience for a Veteran like surfing for the day, a yoga session, or a dinner, visit https://warriorsurf.rallyup.
In addition, don’t forget that $1 from every taco sold from Mex 1’s Thunderbomb Taco (made with Baja battered fresh catch, red cabbage, pineapple salsa and guac sauce) sold through the end of 2021 at all three Mex 1 locations (Sullivan’s Island, West Ashley, and Park West) will go towards the cost of food, accommodations, and experiences for Thunderbomb.
