The Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System is hosting a Veteran Vaccination Clinic offering both COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations on Friday, November 5th, 2021 from 9 am to 12 pm at their VA Community Resource and Referral Center (CRRC) located at 2424 City Hall Lane in North Charleston.
The CDC and ACIP guidance allows you to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and the flu vaccine at the same time, during the same visit. It is recommended to get both vaccines because it is possible to be infected by COVID-19 and influenza (flu) at the same time. According to the Centers for Disease Control, everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exception.
“A season of influenza and COVID-19 could have a serious impact on our Veterans, so it is important for Veterans to get their flu shot,” said Ralph H. Johnson VAHCS Director and CEO Scott Isaacks. “And for those Veterans who haven’t yet received their COVID-19 vaccine, we ask that they strongly consider coming to the clinic to get their first dose. The COVID vaccines are the strongest defense again the virus we have.”
The Ralph H. Johnson VAHCS will be administering both vaccinations at no charge to Veterans. In addition, those Veterans who get vaccinated on Nov. 5 at the VA CRRC clinic, will receive a $5 Wal-Mart gift card and a free to-go packaged lunch.

Outside of this event, vaccinations are also available at the VA medical center downtown or at any of VA’s outpatient clinics. Flu shots are offered on a walk-in basis, but we ask that you call 843-789-6500 to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine.
