We at Holy City Sinner thank you for your patronage and hope 2021 is an awesome year for our followers. We continue to provide you current news and helpful items that keep you up on the Holy City and provide information that might be useful to our followers. 

Thankfully the entertainment community is beginning to make a comeback. Movie theaters are opening. More clubs and night spots are offering live music. Soon the playhouses will be up and running. It’s time to start getting back out there and enjoy the weekend and all the nightlife the Holy City has to offer. We are Holy City Sinner will keep you up on as much as we can. Have fun and stay safe. Please double check with venues before venturing out, since things change so quickly.  Many clubs have mask or proof of vaccination requirements, so be aware!

Hockey fans rejoice, your SC Stingrays are back as they play host to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. The puck drops at 6pm. Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera will host the first show of their inaugural season this fall at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The group will host performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata on October 22nd, 26th, and 28th. Boone Hall Fright Nights continues its annual tradition. In order to present the best possible show experience, online tickets will be LIMITED once again this season. Flowertown Players present ‘Moon Over Buffalo’ at the James F. Dean Theatre at 133 South Main Street Summerville. The play runs weekends Oct 8-24th. In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. Footlight Players at Queen Street Playhouse (20 Queen St) continue their run of ‘Wait Until Dark’. The play that inspired the 1967 Audrey Hepburn film of the same name, Wait Until Dark flips the script on suspense when our heroine turns the tables on a trio of men set on robbing her. Susan Hendrix, a blind yet capable woman, is imperiled by three men in her own apartment. Susan soon discovers that her blindness just might be the key to her escape, but she and her tormentors must wait until dark to play out this thriller’s chilling conclusion. Pure Theatre  present Buyer & Cellar as part of their Fall Nights series. Performances 7pm Friday & Saturday nights at Battery Gadsden on Sullivan’s Island. Citadel Mall host a Halloween Fest on this weekend. Join them on Sunday 12-6 pm for a fun and safe indoor trick-or-treating experience with dozens of family-friendly local businesses handing out candy. Enjoy free face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, crafts, photo booth and a petting zoo (even a llama!). Several special guests will also be making an appearance. Boone Hall Plantation is open with adjusted days and hours of operation. Currently Boone Hall Plantation is open Monday through Saturday – 9am-5pm and on Sunday – 12pm-5pm. The Charleston City Night Market (Market Streets) is open this weekend. The marketplace is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from March – December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 – 10:30 pm and is a free event that is open to the public.

If you just want to get out of the house their are of course city parks open as well as most area golf courses. Sunny days are welcome for walking the beach, bicycling, jogging, maybe tossing the frisbee, or getting in a round of golf. Check with golf courses for certain restrictions. Plus Park Circle in North Charleston offers a nice disc golf course.

Middleton Place, the ancestral home of two Founding Fathers and site of America’s oldest landscaped gardens, has reopened to the public. Ticket pricing has been revised, as well. Lowcountry Tri-County residents pay $26 while non-locals pay $29 per adult. However, if you purchase online, tickets are $20, a 30% discount that also allows for nearly contactless admission. Life is slowly returning to normal and the good Lord has kept watch over the Holy City. Charleston is strong and has survived natural disasters and church shootings and come back stronger. There is no small wonder we wear the title of Holy City, because our faith in God and community spirit has always bonded us together. Remain strong, pray for your community leaders, health care providers, first responders, military, and elected officials.  Together we will rise above this current threat.

After a year long hiatus Black Fedora Mystery Theater on the market (164 Church St.) is open. Get ready to laugh and have some real fun again. The re-opening day is Thursday May 27th. If you love to laugh than Theatre 99 is the place to go.  Friday and Saturday night it’s Take The Funny & Run. Live improv comedy at Theatre 99 is a Charleston tradition! Shows at Theatre 99 are improv parties where audience members laugh until it hurts. Come loaded with suggestions for the quick witted Theatre 99 ensemble members who will take your suggestions…and rock out hilarious unscripted scenes. Guaranteed to make you laugh! $20 for 8pm show. Tickets $20.  Theatre 99 is available for private comedy and improv show bookings.  Wednesday’s are Laughway To the Weekend. Come laugh it up with us half way to the weekend! The world famous Windjammer on the Isle of Palms  in rockin’ this weekend.  Friday it’s Filmore on the beach stage at 6pm. Tickets $15. Later it’s Brady Smith inside at 9pm with $5 ticket price. 6pm Saturday Trial By Fire perform Journey music on the beach stage with $10 admission. Sol Fish play indoors at 9pm with $5 ticket price. On Sunday take part in a benefit for the MUSC Hollingsworth Cancer Center with entertainment from DUB PHYSICIAN, JOSH HUGHETT, live auction and more! Music kicks off at 6pm. Tickets $20.     I will definitely be checking out ‘Taste of Folly’ this weekend! I have also been wanting to try out Braised in the South’s new location over on Johns Island.
