The world-renowned, 120-year-old Belgian lambic brewery, Cantillon, recently announced the details for Zwanze Day 2021, an annual one-day celebration hosted on Saturday, September 25th at breweries and beer shops around the world that includes tapping a keg of the experimental Cantillon Zwanze brew “Parasol,” only available at host locations.
The forthcoming Charleston beer collective and tasting room, The Whale, announced that they will serve as the official South Carolina host of Zwanze Day 2021. This is the first year that South Carolina has been tapped to host the event, which brings together lambic enthusiasts all around the world for a taste of one of the most sought-after beers of all time. The Whale joins just a handful of other US hosts in this beloved tradition that turns 13 this year.
In addition to the worldwide tapping of the official keg of Cantillon Parasol, Zwanze Day at The Whale will feature an array of extremely rare “Whales” for people to taste, food from local trucks including Semilla and Big Tent Pizza, and music from DJ Flip. There will also be several additional rare Cantillon beers on draft throughout the day.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 25th from noon to 5 pm. Doors open at noon and the official tapping of the Cantillon keg of Parasol will take place at 3 pm sharp.
Entry cost for Zwanze Day at The Whale is $15 and tickets will be available at the door. Ticket holders receive a Zwanze Day 2021 glass. Tickets for the Zwanze Parasol pours will be available for an additional $10. Guests are encouraged to arrive early if they wish to purchase a Parasol tasting, as quantity is extremely limited.
