Wonder Works, Charleston’s Number No. 1 toy store, is establishing itself as the LEGO destination in the Lowcountry. The store’s Mt. Pleasant store, located in the Belle Hall Shopping Center, now has an entire room dedicated to offering the latest and greatest LEGO sets for all ages.
Founder Christine Osborne has been in the toy business for over 30 years and has seen the community’s interest in LEGO grow.
“We host a Lego building contest at our store every year in the Spring,” said Osborne. “It started as a small event for kids that liked to build, but then we noticed that the love for Legos spans more than one generation. Now we have categories for all ages from toddlers to adults. When we held the contest early this year, we had over 100 entries!”
After years of carrying Lego sets, Wonder Works is excited to be classified as a Lego Gold Standard Store. That title means that they are able to order the newest sets including exclusive releases and expert level sets. The new Lego room has walls filled with sets including Duplo Bricks for the younger builders, classics like Lego City and Lego Friends, more advanced Lego Expert sets and even more.
Wonder Works was founded in Mt. Pleasant in 1990. As an industry-leading toy store, it celebrates the magic and wonder of toys and the power of a single child. Wonder Works is always the first to feature the trendiest toys in the nation, aiming to inspire creativity and a sense of wonder through hands-on play. Its passion lies within the growth and devolvement of child entrepreneurs, child entertainers, and children’s charities. The company is a proud member of ASTRA, Lowcountry Local First and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. Wonder Works has two Lowcountry locations: Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant & the Great Hall at City Market, Charleston.
