French wine bar Bistro A Vin has named Eleni Rigas as their new Wine Manager and Sommelier. Eleni joins the team with a background in winemaking and viticulture, previously studying and working with wine in France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Croatia, England, New Zealand, Italy, and Germany.
The New York native became interested in wine after taking viticulture, oenology, hospitality, and sensory development classes while studying International Economics and Business Development at Cornell University. Her passion led her to spend time as Assistant Viticulturist and Winemaker at Winery Dreihornmühlethen in Westhofen, Germany before transitioning to the hospitality side of wine back in New York, and eventually moving to Charleston.
“I am most excited about meeting and serving all of our wonderful customers,” Eleni said. “I love what we do and the wines we serve at Bistro a Vin, and sharing them with our customers is definitely the best part of my job!”
