Effective Monday, March 15, 2021, the Municipal Court will re-open for in-person Traffic and Criminal Bench Trials. No jury trial cases are being scheduled at this time.
Following an order by the Supreme Court of South Carolina in January 2021, in-person court proceedings were temporarily suspended due to rises in COVID-19 cases throughout the state.
Due to the ongoing situation related to COVID-19, no one who is coughing, feverish or ill may enter the courtroom, and defendants must wear masks or face coverings during court proceedings, unless asked by the Judge to remove them. For additional courtroom safety protocols please visit www.charleston-sc.gov/821/Municipal-Court.
Citizens whose cases were impacted by the temporary closure can call Court Operations at 843-724-7460 for further information.
