The Foundation provides Grants to organizations that have limited budgets, and demonstrate real need https://www.loislenskicovey.org/bookmobile-grants/.
“The Berkeley County Library System is honored to be a recipient of the Lois Lenski Covey Foundation Bookmobile Grant. The grant will fund a mobile library collection to promote literacy in Berkeley County children, preschool through eighth grade. The Berkeley County Mobile Library provides a vital service in connecting the community to books and other library resources, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Gene Brunson, MLIS, Berkeley County Library Director.
In 2014, the bookmobile now referred to as the Mobile Library (M.O.R.E. – Moving Our Resources Everywhere) was established and continues a busy Jan-March 2021 Schedule. The Mobile Library visits schools, apartment complexes, community centers, retirement facilities and churches providing access to library services in the rural areas of the county and to citizens who face obstacles in accessing resources. Services include lending out materials, laptop use, free WiFi, reference assistance, online databases, printing and copying services!
Berkeley County Library System has seven library branches and one Mobile Library. Each library offers programs and services including digital access through the Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
