Patriots Point Kicks off 2021 with 10th Annual Pay What You Can Weekend

Published

on

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will ask visitors to name their admission prices on Saturday, January 2nd and Sunday, January 3rd during their 10th annual Pay What You Can Weekend (PWYC). Instead of standard admission and parking fees, families are encouraged to pay whatever amount of money they can afford.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of PWYC weekend, local walking-tour company Bulldog Tours will offer their guided tour of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown for half-price. The tour will be sold at the ticket window to walk-up customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The 1 hr and 15 min. tour explores areas of the historic ship that are off-limits to the general public.

“Out of all of the years that our museum has offered a Pay What You Can Weekend to the community, this 10th anniversary may be the most important,” Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum Executive Director Larry Murray said. “Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, there are a lot more families struggling financially this year. We hope this promotion provides a fun and educational way to bring in the new year aboard historic ships.”

Visit www.patriotspoint.org for more about the museum and to learn about the historic vessels on tour.
