College of Charleston Athletics is actively working on a safe return to competition for the 2020-21 men’s and women’s basketball seasons at TD Arena.

Public health and safety are CofC’s top priority. The athletics department’s ability to conduct sporting events depends on the willingness of our campus community and visitors to come together in support of our collective health and safety.

This season, CofC received approval from the South Carolina Department of Commerce to welcome spectators to TD Arena. The state-of-the-art venue (which seats 5,100) will be reduced to 30 percent capacity.

All precautions taken by the athletics department are consistent with the Governor’s guidance for the State of South Carolina as well as with guidance from local, federal and College of Charleston officials.

Fans are asked to help do their part to create a safe environment for all by: (1) staying home if sick or running a fever, (2) frequently washing hands, (3) using hand sanitizer and (4) maintaining physical distance from other guests.

Face coverings (over the nose and mouth) will be required as a condition of all guest entry and throughout TD Arena, unless actively eating or drinking.

Gates to TD Arena will open one hour prior to tipoff. Available seats will be properly socially distanced according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidelines and designatedby an “approved seat” sticker. Any unmarked seats within TD Arena will not be allowable seat locations.

The Clear Bag Policy, which was implemented during the 2019-20 season, remains in effect for all sporting events on campus. Click here for a list of approved and prohibited bags.

Due to capacity limitations and NCAA restrictions on access to the court, CofC’s spirit groups – Chucktown Sound, Cheer and Dance and DJ Natty Heavy – will not be in attendance to start the season. Their participation will continue to be evaluated, with the hope to add them into the gameday atmosphere, when in-person classes resume in January.

A full list of additional facility operational measures can be found here and are subject to change based on recommendations from College of Charleston leadership, the Colonial Athletic Association and public health officials.
