State Representative Nancy Mace today declared victory in her race for South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, against Democrat incumbent Joe Cunningham. The Associated Press also called the race for Mace shortly after 2 am Wednesday.
“I am so grateful and deeply humbled that Lowcountry voters have put their faith in me to be their voice in Congress,” Nancy Mace said. “Now is the time to put the Lowcountry First — rebuild our economy, protect Parris Island, and preserve our beautiful coastline. I promise to be the independent voice we need in Congress and to represent our Lowcountry values. Thank you Congressman Cunningham for your service to our district and your dedication to our community.”
Cunningham for Congress Campaign Manager Allie Watters released the following statement Wednesday morning:
“There are tens of thousands of ballots outstanding across the district. Both candidates have agreed that every ballot must be counted and every voice heard before an election result is called.”
