An opportunity to sharpen your kitchen knives this weekend will also serve as a great way to help feed families in need this Thanksgiving. The Coastal Cupboard in Mount Pleasant’s Belle Hall Shopping Center will host its Semi-Annual Charity Knife Sharpening Event from Friday November 8th to Sunday, November 10th.
The event benefits the Charleston Basket Brigade, a local nonprofit committed to bringing the community together to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.
While the Coastal Cupboard staff will sharpen away the wear and tear from your knives, you can check out interactive knife skills demonstrations, taste delicious samples, check out cutlery specials, and more. Only straight-edge knives can be sharpened, not serrated knives. There is no limit to how many knives you can have sharpened.
The Charleston Basket Brigade is a local charity on a mission to raise $105,000 to feed approximately 3,500 Charleston Tri-County families in need for Thanksgiving. It only takes $30 to feed a family of six and 100 percent of donations raised are utilized to purchase food. Each box is filled with all of the food items necessary to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal – a 10-12 lb. turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls and a pumpkin pie. Also, inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads: “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.”
The Coastal Cupboard can be found at 644-J Long Point Road. This weekend’s hours are as follows:
- Friday & Saturday: 10 am – 5 pm
- Sunday: 12 pm – 4 pm
