The theme for this year’s Hackathon is to “Build something world changing!,” focusing on an open source solution to tackle one of four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
- Quality Education
- Affordable and Clean Energy
- Sustainable Cities and Communities
- Climate Action
This event will be an all-day coding sprint in which you and your team (3-6 people) will work together to make a better tomorrow. Teams will be provided with a publicly-available data set for one of the four goals and encouraged to build any kind of technical solution that tackles the goal. Potential solutions could include web dashboards, mobile apps, data visualizations, or machine learning algorithms.
The event will be fully catered, providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. All we need for you to bring is a government-issued form of identification, a WiFi-capable laptop (including chargers/peripherals), and your excitement and willingness to change the world!
We’ll provide you with a rubric our judges will use to score each team’s project and will have individual prize winners for each of the sustainable development goals. We’ll also have a final round of presentations and judging of each of the four winning teams for a Best in Show prize, judged by a panel of local industry leaders.
