Pow! Saturday is Free Comic Book Day at Multiple Area Shops



On Saturday, multiple area stores will be participating in Free Comic Book Day, an international event that celebrates comic books and the local shops that provide them to their communities.

This year’s celebration includes:

Captain’s Comics & Toys

  • 8 am to 8 pm at 1209-D Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley
  • Over 4,000 free comic books
    • Everyone who attends will get 3 free comics from a selection of over 50 titles
    • Highlighted titles include
      • DC Super Hero Girls
      • Avengers/Captain America
      • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Special
      • The Legend of Korra/Nintendo’s Arms
      • Infinity Watch/Amazing Spider-Man

  • 10 am to 8 pm at 221 St. James Avenue Suite 10, Goose Creek
  • Patrons can get three free comics with no obligation
    • Over 50 titles will be offered on that day

Soundwave Music & Movies

  • 8 am to 8 pm at 2139 North Main Street, Unit B, Summerville
  • Over 4,000 comics in stock in 53 different titles
    • Each person will be offered 3 different free comics

  • Raffle
    • Free to enter starting at 8 am
    • Winners announced at 7:30 pm

    • Several cosplayers will answer questions and pose for photo-ops

    • The entire creative team of Amazing Age from Alterna Comics
    • Christine Brunson – comic book creator who provides the color for series such as Amazing Age, Xigency Studios’ Amazonia, and more
    • Matthew David Smith – a comic book writer and screenwriter. He’s written the self-published Simon Says and the Alterna Comics horror graphic novel “Blood-Drenched Creature Double Feature”
    • Jeremy Massie – a cartoonist born who has drawn comics for over a decade and published two graphic novels
