LOVEGAVE 2017 has announced the launch of its community-wide fundraising event to take place December 8th and 9th at various schools throughout the area. LOVEGAVE is a group of churches that have joined together to help the community.
According to a press release, the group will partner with local schools to “empower and energize their staffs, specifically blessing teachers, and to love on families in need that attend these schools.” Their two-day fundraising event will take place at partner schools throughout the area and online.
Here are the details straight from the group:
“The event is two-fold:
- We will be raising money through an online campaign that will broadcast live at the website lovegave.com. The broadcast dates are Dec. 8 and 9. The money will be used to bless teachers at our partner schools in the tri-county. These teachers will be pre-selected by LOVEGAVE based on nominations that come from the community through our website. Please share the name of a deserving teacher on our website.
- In addition, partner churches and schools will host a community event/block party and include the “YardGive.” It is essentially a reverse yard sale, where community members in need who attend or live nearby to a partner school location can come shop items donated to this cause, free of charge. On the evening of Friday, Dec. 8, volunteers will take in the donated items, organize them, and distribute them on Saturday to families in need from the area.
LOVEGAVE currently has 17 churches and six schools committed with volunteers to host this two-day event. School locations will include:
- Oakbrook Elementary
- Devon Forest Elementary
- Sangaree Intermediate School
- Hanahan Elementary
