On Thursday, October 26th, the Charleston Music Hall will host the Premiere Screening of the First Chapter of Black Collective’s original Short Film Series, Vesey’s Resistance: The Story of the Denmark Vesey Insurrection. The event starts at 7 pm.
The showing will also include a live visual music performance featuring songs from the soundtrack by Benny Starr, and a Q&A panel from Charleston’s leading historians.
About the film:
“In 1822, Denmark Vesey planned the largest slave insurrection in history on the City of Charleston. Black Collective presents the premiere of The Short Film Series: Vesey’s Resistance, the Story of Defiance and The Fight for Freedom. With live musical performances inspired by the film Featuring Benjamin Starr along with a Q & A panel from Charleston’s leading historians and activist.”
