The South Carolina Aquarium will release an astounding 6 (six!) rehabilitated sea turtles back into the ocean tomorrow (5/14/15). The event will take place at 1 pm on the beach near the Isle of Palms County Park. It’s FREE to attend (you may have to pay to park) and open to the public.
The turtles being brought back into the wild are:
- Cavin, Fitz, Gibbons, Pilatus, Tater (Kemp’s ridley sea turtles)
- and Bailey (green sea turtle)
This is the largest public sea turtle release since 2013 when seven turtles were released in Kiawah Island.
I’ve attended a couple of these events in the past and they are always fun and unique, but this should be even more special due to the amount of turtles involved. I highly recommend you bring your camera and head to the beach!
