The South Carolina Aquarium will be releasing 3 rehabilitated sea turtles back into the ocean at the Isle of Palms County Park on Thursday, May 23rd at 4 pm. The event is FREE (you may have to pay to park) and open to the public.
This is the first sea turtle release of the year. I’ve attended a couple of these events in the past and they are always fun and unique. I highly recommend you bring your camera and head to the beach!
Here’s a little about each turtle:
- A juvenile Kemp’s ridley (above) from South Carolina
- Found entangled in monofilament fishing line
- Cold-stunned off the North Carolina coast this past winter
- Cold-stunned off the New England coast this past winter
