eatlocalchallengeLowcountry Local First (LLF) has once again dubbed April “Dig In: Eat Local Month.” Much like like a year ago, the organization has lined up a series of events to celebrate. So get out there and SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES!

By the way – the funds raised from Eat Local Month go directly toward LLF’s work in Sustainable Agriculture.

Here are this year’s events:

4/1/13 – 4/30/13: Eat Local Challenge – Various

When you sign up for the challenge, you get to choose your Eat Local goal(s) for the month of April.

For tips on how to tackle this challenge, head on over to the Charleston City Paper’s guide.

4/13: 10 am – 1 pm: Plow to Chow – Marion Square

FREE. Several local restaurants and farmers will be on hand to offer plow to chow and cooking demonstrations throughout the day.

4/20: 10 am – 5 pm: Dirt Road Trip Lowcountry Farm Tours – Johns Island, Wadmalaw Island, and McClellanville

$30/$35. Tour goers will be able to pile into their cars with friends and family and pick their must-see farms to visit. From meeting the farmers and touring the farm to learning about the farming process and indulging in farm fare and local eateries along the routes.  Many farms will have some of their great local products for sale so bring a  cooler.
