The Carrier Classic will not be returning to Charleston this fall. Live 5 News is reporting that the Patriots Point Board of Trustees decided not to have the event again. They did not rule out an eventual return, but it is certainly not happening this year.
The Carrier Classic is a now three-year old NCAA basketball showcase whose games are played on an aircraft carrier. Last year’s version took place on the USS Yorktown.
Although the event brought a lot of excitement to the Lowcountry, it ended on a slippery note. A successful women’s game was followed by a shortened men’s match-up due to condensation on the court.
