College of Charleston freshman guard Taryn Barbot been named the CAA Rookie of the Week after splitting both games at TD Arena this weekend.
Barbot contributed 24.0 points per game as Charleston split a pair of games over the weekend. She added 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists per contest to continue an impressive stretch for the freshman. On Sunday, Barbot tallied a personal-best 36 points with four rebounds, four steals and two assists despite a setback to Monmouth. The 36-point performance is the highest scoring output by a CAA student-athlete in 2023-24 and marks her fifth game with 20 or more during her first collegiate season. Barbot opened the weekend with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal, helping Charleston defeat Drexel.
This is Barbot's fourth Rookie of the Week award and is one of two Charleston players to have earned weekly accolades this season.
The Cougars will travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. to take on the Seawolves on Friday.
