Greenville scores final seven runs of the game to put a stop to Charleston's winning streak

GREENVILLE, S.C. – While Josh Breaux has carried the RiverDogs with his bat at times in the last week, the Greenville Drive proved too much for Charleston to handle, as the RiverDogs saw their winning streak come to a halt at five straight despite another Herculean effort from their slugging catcher. Breaux crushed his fifth home run in his last eight games to continue his power stroke, but the Drive surged back to score the final seven runs of the game and hand Charleston a 7-3 loss on Saturday night at Fluor Field.
Breaux laced the second offering he saw in the first, crushing a 1-0 pitch to the top of the green monster in left for a two-run homer to make it 3-0 RiverDogs (15-14). The home run marked sixth of the season for the former second-round selection. Breaux has now driven in 17 runs in his last eight games after finishing the night 1-for-2 with a walk and exiting the game early after wearing a pitch off his back foot in the eighth.
Right fielder Josh Stowers carried his hitting streak to 10 straight when he mashed double to left in the first, scoring Canaan Smith who went 1-for-3 to hit safely in his ninth straight game later in the contest.
After chasing Greenville (12-16) starter Yasel Santana after 3 2/3, the Drive's bullpen shut down Charleston the rest of the way. Three southpaws combined to no-hit the RiverDogs over the final five-plus innings. Angel Padron (1-1) worked 3 1/3 with a pair of strikeouts to notch the win in relief.
After getting on the board in the second, the Red Sox affiliate notched three in a decisive third inning to take the lead for good. RiverDogs starter Alexander Vizcaino (2-2) walked the first two batters of the inning before late entry Marino Campana drove a single to right-center in his first at-bat of the night to cut the deficit to one. Designated hitter Devlin Granberg singled to tie the game with his first of three RBI on the night; the Dallas Baptist product added an insurance tally in the fifth with his second home run of the season, a solo shot.
Despite allowing three runs over four innings of relief, reliever Anderson Munoz continued to rack up strikeouts, fanning seven to run up his season total to 27 in just 15 innings out of the Charleston pen.
