On Friday, December 15, Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the voice in President Biden’s cabinet for America’s 33 million small businesses, joined House Representative Jim Clyburn and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai in Charleston, South Carolina to discuss expanding economic opportunity through trade and promote shopping small during the Season of Small Business.
Administrator Guzman kicked off the trip with a visit to Holy City Linen, a commercial laundry whose owner, Ann Son, was named the 2022 South Carolina Small Business Person of the Year. Administrator Guzman toured the facility and met with Ms. Son to discuss the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to support small businesses, especially during the holiday season.
Administrator Guzman then joined Representative Clyburn and Ambassador Tai for a tour of the South Carolina Ports Authority, where they learned more about exporting in South Carolina. After the tour, they participated in a roundtable with local small business leaders and stakeholders to discuss capital access and trade opportunities.
In the afternoon, Administrator Guzman visited multiple small businesses with Representative Clyburn at the Charleston City Market to celebrate the Season of Small Business – the SBA’s campaign to encourage shoppers to support small businesses across the country this holiday season.
