Charleston County Environmental Management, in partnership with Lowcountry Land Trust, will host a free shredding event for Charleston County residents on Saturday, April 27th from 9 am to noon at the recycling center located at 8099 Palmetto Commerce Parkway. In addition to free paper shredding, residents will have an opportunity to explore the center’s education space and learn more about the county’s recycling program directly from staff.
Additionally, residents who bring in plastic bags to be recycled properly at the center will receive free reusable tote bags. As a reminder, residents should not recycle plastic bags or bagged items in their Charleston County recycling carts.
The April 27th event, offered as part of Lowcountry Earth Week, will be held drop-in style and will take place rain or shine. Free paper shredding will be available to Charleston County residents only. Businesses are not eligible.
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events are now coordinated in hundreds of countries.
