As the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season approaches, Charleston County Emergency Management (CCEMD) today announced the release of its 2024 Hurricane Guide, which details the new evacuation zones released this year by the South Carolina Emergency Management Division in coordination with CCEMD.
The new zones, which were developed using updated storm surge model data from the National Hurricane Center, provide important information for residents to be aware of in the event of an evacuation.
Additionally, the 2024 Hurricane Guide includes information about the risks associated with Tropical Storms and Hurricanes, valuable resources to use before, during, and after an event, and tips on how best to prepare for and recover from potential storm impacts.
“Protecting the citizens of Charleston County is our number one priority, and as hurricane season approaches, that means encouraging residents to make a plan, know their evacuation zone, and get ready for any storm systems that may come our way,” said Charleston County Emergency Management Director Joe Coates. “It’s never too early begin preparing, and this year’s Hurricane Guide is the perfect place to start.”
Atlantic Hurricane season is June 1st to November 30th. To access the 2024 Hurricane Guide in Spanish, click here.
