Charlestonians can now see what Brookgreen Gardens will be buzzing about later this spring, with an installation on display in the Gallery by SEWE throughout February.
The installation will include a 25” x 38” model of a Scout Bee, offering SEWE visitors a sneak peek into a much larger activation coming to Brookgreen in the spring – The Good of the Hive – an expansive project by artist Matt Willey, who is painting 50,000 honeybees, the number in a healthy hive, in murals and installations around the world.
Brookgreen Gardens “Conservation Station” will be the canvas for one of Willey’s murals, which are intended to symbolize not only connection and change, but also conservation – a value that resonates profoundly with Brookgreen.
Across their vast 9000+ acres, Brookgreen passionately preserves and protects over 2,000 native plant species and diverse wildlife, in addition to water conservation, composting efforts and more.
The SEWE gallery is located at The Shops at The Charleston Place, 205 Meeting Street, in Downtown Charleston.
