Members of the team behind the quality beef offered at some of Charleston’s top restaurants and steakhouses will be visiting the Lowcountry on February 7th for an educational “meat and greet” at Ted’s Butcherblock, the exclusive Charleston area retail outlet for the beef offered through this rancher owned and operated company based in Wheeler County, Oregon.
Painted Hills Natural Beef Rancher Members Will and Gabrielle Homer will join Ted’s Butcherblock owner Ted Dombrowski from 5 pm to 7 pm at the East Bay Street butcher shop and gourmet cafe to demonstrate the process of breaking down a chuck roll and to discuss their company’s story and product, and what it’s like to live the rancher lifestyle. Samples will be offered along with a discussion about why Painted Hills Natural Beef has such superior flavor.
“I did extensive research before opening my business in 2005. Painted Hills was much lesser known at the time, but they were exactly the type of purveyor that I wanted to represent,” says Dombrowski, who has been operating his business out of the same Ansonborough address on East Bay Street for almost two decades.
“Painted Hills beef is the best tasting ethically raised natural beef I’ve found. We’ve been carrying their product since day one and we’re excited to be able to host them for their first visit to Charleston, and to introduce them to some of our long-time customers who have become loyal fans of their product over the years,” Dombrowski added.
Painted Hills Natural Beef was founded by seven ranching families in Wheeler County in 1997 in an effort to help the owners navigate the challenging conditions required to raise and market quality beef. The company quickly became known for both the quality and consistency of its product. It also attracted praise for the personal service provided by the ranchers, who had the knowledge and dedication required to deliver a quality product and an interest in educating customers about the benefits of responsibly-raised beef.
Dombrowski opened his neighborhood butcher shop in downtown Charleston in 2005 to fill a void he saw in Charleston’s burgeoning culinary scene - a source for quality, responsibly sourced butcher and specialty products that are accessible to residents living in downtown Charleston and beyond. He exclusively offers products made using humane practices, minimal processing and all-natural ingredients. Also important is his mission to support smaller and family-run businesses whenever possible.
