All Types of Media Arts Convention (ATOMACON) returns to North Charleston for its tenth annual 2-day convention on May 4th and 5th, 2024. The family-friendly convention will be held at the Aeronautical Training Center at Trident Technical College (Bldg. 1000).
Attendees can enjoy panels on Cosplay, Paranormal Studies, Art and Music, Literature, Filmmaking, and general Fandom such as Star Trek, Dr. Who, Star Wars, Godzilla, Marvel and DC Universes, and much more. The 6th annual Independent Film Festival will screen feature and short films in the Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror Genres, including Fan Films.
ATOMACON is celebrating their 10th anniversary with Guest of Honor Grady Hendrix, an author, journalist, screenwriter, and podcaster best known for his books: Horrorstör, My Best Friend's Exorcism, We Sold Our Souls, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, The Final Girl Support Group, Badasstronauts, and How to Sell a Haunted House. In addition, the convention will feature over 40 other guest authors, paranormal experts, artists, and filmmaking professionals.
Other features include a Princess Bride shadow cast performed by Charleston’s Absent Friends, dance performances by Serpentine Jade, live Podcasts by Midnight Terrors and Halfling and Spaceman, a charity auction and raffle to benefit L.E.A.R.N. Horse Rescue, Cosplay Contest, Vendor Room, and over 100 hours of workshops, discussion panels, movie screenings, kid’s activities and other interactive events.
Convention hours are 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Advance passes are available for single day ($20) and the weekend ($30). Children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
ATOMACON, Inc. (http://atomacon.org) is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for science fiction, fantasy, and science through related literary and other popular art forms. This is accomplished primarily through a convention to celebrate the history of and on-going contribution of science fiction, fantasy, science and related genres to art and popular culture.
