Nestled in the heart of Charleston, lies a gathering unlike any other. Located at the Frontier Lounge on Calhoun St., the Sawdust Supper Club, a monthly event born from a shared love of country music and camaraderie, has quickly become a cherished fixture in the Holy City's cultural landscape.
Conceived by local promoter Ben Bounds and musician Gritty Flyright, the Sawdust Supper Club emerged from a desire to create an immersive experience that celebrated the soulful melodies of country music. Together, Bounds and Flyright enlisted a diverse group of friends and creatives to bring their vision to fruition.
"The Sawdust Supper Club is my one and only residency in Charleston and is something that is very close to my heart," Gritty Flyright said. "From its inception back in January of this year, the event has quickly become something that Music Fans can look forward to each month."
Sawdust Supper Club isn't just an event—it's a collaborative masterpiece woven by musicians, songwriters, painters, promoters, and business owners alike. From crafting eye-catching flyers to fine-tuning audiovisual elements, each member of the team contributes their unique skills to shape the club's vibrant atmosphere.
"I’m truly grateful to work with my friends to create something unique here in the Lowcountry," Flyright added. "Gritty Flyright’s Sawdust Supper Club is a one of a kind experience that brings people together for the sake of live music, good food, and fellowship. I love Country Music…Always have…It has a way of telling a story that I can understand."
Every second Sunday of the month at the Frontier Lounge, Sawdust Supper Club invites guests to indulge in a sensory feast. As the doors open at 5 pm, attendees are greeted with the tantalizing aroma of Uncle Tampa's Kitchen's signature sandwiches and the promise of an unforgettable musical journey.
While live performances by Gritty Flyright & The Music Family and esteemed guest artists like Meredith Foster and Lauren Hall take center stage, Sawdust Supper Club offers much more than just music. From friendly competitions in the roping/horseshoe pit to nostalgic moments with retro gaming, there's something to captivate every guest's imagination.
While Charleston may not aspire to become the next Nashville, Sawdust Supper Club harbors a noble ambition—to ignite a country music renaissance in the Holy City. By fostering a welcoming space where music lovers can unite, the club's founders hope to cultivate a deeper appreciation for country music within the community. More than merely an event, Sawdust Supper Club serves as a testament to the power of music to forge bonds and kindle spirits. Through its inclusive ethos and diverse lineup of talent, the club continues to unite creatives and country music aficionados alike, spreading the joy of live music throughout Charleston's Lowcountry.
