Brookgreen Gardens will host its annual Spring Plant Sale and Earth Day Festival on April 20th and two-day Art Festival on April 27-28. The Spring Plant Sale will be held in Brookgreen’s Arboretum, offering an extensive selection of Lowcountry native plants for guests to shop. The family-friendly Earth Day Festival will be in the butterfly field near the Lowcountry Zoo entrance. The following weekend, the Brookgreen Gardens Art Festival will showcase the fine craftsmanship of local and national artists and artisans.
"These beloved events offer something for every Brookgreen guest, from vibrant blooms to fun educational activities to stunning artworks," says Page Kiniry, President and CEO of Brookgreen Gardens. "Our annual Spring Plant Sale provides visitors a chance to bring a piece of Brookgreen's beauty home with them, while the Art Festival highlights local and national artisans' remarkable creativity and talents."
During the Spring Plant Sale on April 20, visitors can choose from a vast selection of plants, many propagated at Brookgreen, including native plants, annuals, perennials, shrubs, and edibles. Brookgreen’s horticulture staff and knowledgeable volunteers will be onsite during the sale to answer any questions.
The Earth Day Festival, also on April 20, will have activities for students and adults. Adults will learn more about native plants and conservation while children explore S.T.E.A.M. stations to complete their Earth Day passports.
On April 27 and 28, vendors and artists from across the country, including local artisans, will gather under the canopy of 250-year-old live oak trees in Brookgreen Gardens’ Oak Allée during the two-day Art Festival. Showcasing regionally and nationally produced fine craftsmanship and quality art, the Art Festival invites guests to browse and purchase photography, watercolor and pastel paintings, wooden sculptures, basketry, pottery and ceramics, fiber art, glass-blown designs, jewelry, metalwork, sculpture, oil and acrylic paintings, and more.
